This newly renovated space has completely shifted the look of Snyder's downtown area. The crumbling facade of these brick and stucco buildings have now been transformed into a vibrant landmark. This location presents opportunities to be used as a gathering space for events, a fantastic place to take photos, and focal point of the city,
Shown below is the before and after of the buildings we painted. Cal painted the flower wall and sign to the left, and then hired Daniel, Lexi, and I to help her design and paint the Western wall.
Working together with the building owner and the city, Daniel, Lexi, and I came up with ideas and compositions for the mural that incorporated the elements that the city of Snyder requested. After those initial meetings, I created final digital mock-ups of the mural in photoshop. Shown below is the mock-up (top left) next to the finished mural (top right).
This was one of my largest murals to date, and was one of the greatest experiences that I've had so far painting murals. All day while we painted, people driving down the street would honk, give thumbs up, say "great job!", or even park their cars to come talk with us.
The community in Snyder seemed to truly resonate with the mural, and I could tell that the mural gave them so much more pride for their city. I am tremendously blessed to have been a part of this project, and I can't wait to do more large walls like this in the future!
Murals are incredible assets for cities to engage members of the community and travelers alike. Murals conveying essential messages, provide great opportunities for PR events, and create a tremendous sense of pride in our cities.
